Pipe Fab Machine Operator I-II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.

📋 Description

• Measure, thread, and adjust flange fitting and face flanges on ductile or steel piping.

• Utilize manual machining tools, such as lathes and threaders.

• Operate machinery and cranes to transport pipes in and out of machining centers.

• Ensure the safety of oneself and team members.

• Maintain a secure and healthy work environment by adhering to the Waterman Safety Management Program.

• Determine fabrication requirements for each pipe component.

• Operate a forklift to handle pipes inside and outside the plant.

• Use the pipe cut-off saw effectively.

• Test flanges to verify accurate fitting after threading.

• Apply adhesive to pipes and flanges, utilizing machinery to secure the flange.

• Remove threaded pipes from machines and transfer them to subsequent processing operations.

• Employ a lathe cutting tool to achieve a flush fit of flanges onto pipes.

• Work with pipes and flanges primarily ranging from 3 to 24 inches in diameter and 6 feet to 18 feet in length.

• Adhere to quality standards and meet set production output targets.

• Paint and package completed products.

• Maintain cleanliness in the designated work area.

• Assist and volunteer across various machines.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1-3 years of relevant experience in a similar position.

• High school diploma or GED is mandatory.

• Previous experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing setting is preferred.

• Proficient computer skills.

• Strong foundational skills in basic mathematics.

• Capable of reading a tape measure and micrometer accurately.

• Ability to comprehend machinery processes.

• Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential.

• Must be able to operate a forklift and obtain certification.

• Competent in operating either a forklift or overhead crane.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English are required.

• Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel-toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, and masks.

• Must fulfill physical requirements, including lifting up to 50 pounds.

• Capability to work in varying conditions such as heat, cold, noise, vibration, dust, and fumes.

• Must be prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

• Basic knowledge of industrial tools, their applications, and maintenance is necessary.

• Willingness to work overtime and extended hours as needed.
