Pilot Operator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Rhode Island.

📋 Description

• Operate CRT, keyboard, and Voice Communication System equipment during both medium- and high-fidelity training exercises.

• Simulate pilot actions and communications for remote ATC facilities.

• Receive voice commands from trainees.

• Input accurate data into the automated system to mimic pilot actions.

• Convert displayed information into the appropriate ATC terminology.

• Respond to trainees through the Voice Communication System using correct phraseology.

• Observe certified RPOs, FAA personnel, or contractor instructors during simulation scenarios.

• Complete on-the-job training for simulation scenarios related to supported control positions.

⛳️ Requirements

• No prior aviation experience is necessary; however, aviation experience is beneficial.

• Experience as a computer operator, RPO, air traffic control specialist, or (student) pilot is highly valued.

• Coursework in aviation studies, terminal radar lab or en route lab certification, or a working knowledge of FAAO JO 7110.65 is preferred.

• A high school diploma or its equivalent is required.

• At least one year of experience in a similar role is mandatory.

• A minimum keyboard speed of 40 wpm with 90% accuracy is necessary.

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams and manuals is essential.

• Must be able to speak clearly and be easily understood.

• Proficiency in the MS Office Suite is desirable.

• Basic familiarity with current technological tools is a plus.

• Experience working within a multidisciplinary team is preferred.

• Candidates will undergo FAA security screening.

• Must achieve RPO laboratory certification within 120 calendar days of starting the position.

• Must pass knowledge tests for each supported area/sector with a minimum score of 70%.

• Must complete the required observation and on-the-job training scenarios and obtain certification.
