Physician – Psychiatry

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Become a part of the Sanford Virtual Hospital team, which includes 2 physicians and 3 PMHNPs.

• Deliver psychiatry coverage during weekend daytime hours from 7am to 7pm.

• Address immediate emergency department requirements in both tertiary centers and rural critical access hospitals.

• Conduct rounds on behavioral health units during weekends.

• Provide consultations on medical floors over the weekends.

• Extend general psychiatry care to patients across all age groups.

• Execute history and physical examinations, manage admissions as needed, conduct evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment for mental, behavioral, addictive, or emotional disorders.

• Collaborate effectively with local clinicians and nursing staff.

• Operate remotely from a home office.

• Acquire and uphold necessary state medical licenses and enterprise privileges.

⛳️ Requirements

• BE/BC General Psychiatrist.

• Possession of an M.D. or D.O. degree.

• Successful completion of a psychiatry residency program affiliated with a hospital, accredited by ACGME, AOA, or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

• Certification in the primary area of practice by the relevant ABMS, AOA, or Royal College specialty/subspecialty board, unless eligible for a post-residency certification exception.

• Candidates not applying directly after residency must demonstrate engagement with at least 30 patients in the past 12 months through inpatient services or clinical practice.

• The candidate must secure IA, MN, ND, and SD medical licenses and privileges that support the enterprise.

• General psychiatry practice catering to patients of all ages.

• Capability to provide care for patients aged 12 and older.

• All shifts are scheduled in Central Standard Time.

• Availability for weekend day shifts from 7am to 7pm.

• Board certification to be achieved within five years of completing residency unless waived, where applicable.
