This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct thorough patient intake for adolescents joining the program, encompassing history, risk factors, and eligibility assessment.
• Arrange necessary laboratory tests and analyze results, escalating any findings that fall outside the program's guidelines.
• Collaborate with patients and their families to create personalized care plans.
• Prescribe and oversee GLP-1 therapy when clinically suitable, as part of a comprehensive nutrition and behavioral support strategy.
• Manage continuous care through follow-up visits, dose adjustments, side-effect monitoring, safety management, and support for adherence.
• Coordinate efforts with physicians, nurse practitioners, registered dietitians, and health coaches.
• Adhere to clinical protocols and escalation procedures.
• Bring complex or unclear cases to the attention of the Physician Lead.
• Maintain a panel of Balance families within a pediatric-led adolescent metabolic health initiative.
• MD or DO with an active, unrestricted medical license in good standing.
• Confidence and credibility in caring for adolescents and their families.
• Interest in adolescent and obesity medicine.
• Willingness to undergo light onboarding training in weight/obesity management and GLP-1 therapy.
• Availability of 20–80 hours per month.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Ability to function effectively within an asynchronous, distributed telehealth care team.
• Board certification in Obesity Medicine (ABOM/DABOM), or a clear pathway to obtaining certification (preferred).
• Previous experience in prescribing or managing GLP-1 therapy (preferred).
• Experience providing care via telehealth (preferred).
• Experience collaborating with registered dietitians, behavioral health clinicians, and health coaches in a multidisciplinary framework (preferred).
• Bilingual in Spanish/English or experience working with linguistically diverse pediatric populations (preferred).
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Must provide a list of states in which licensed to practice.
• Flexible, part-time engagement.
• 1099 contractor arrangement.
• Monthly commitment can increase as the patient panel expands.
