Physician Coding Educator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver education on coding and billing compliance to physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and clinical service auxiliary providers.

• Enhance workflow and improve clinical documentation practices.

• Relay coding and billing information to administrative and finance leaders.

• Assist in the evaluation and management of billing code utilization reports.

• Offer subject matter expertise in documentation, coding, and compliant charge capture.

• Create and train practitioners on content related to coding, documentation, and charge capture.

• Collaborate with Physician Leaders, Practice Leaders, Compliance, Legal, and Finance on coding initiatives.

• Provide ongoing education and feedback regarding coding and billing practices as well as regulatory requirements.

• Design and implement educational content utilizing adult education principles, including blended and e-learning materials.

• Launch training materials, track participation, and report on learning outcomes.

• Formulate training strategies and action plans aimed at achieving risk adjustment targets.

• Analyze reports, billing and denial data, claims errors, coding trends, and documentation gaps.

• Educate providers during onboarding and assist with coding audits and reviews.

• Conduct shadowing services to enhance workflow and accuracy in charge selection.

• Monitor coding resources and updates from payers.

• Create tools and training materials to support regulatory compliance and revenue capture.

• Review encounter forms and billing tools, proposing code or layout modifications.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in professional coding education and compliance documentation teaching.

• Advanced understanding and experience in interpreting and applying federal and government regulations to ensure compliance in coding and documentation.

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.

• At least one certification, such as Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA), or Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-based (CCS-P).

• Comprehensive knowledge of complete and accurate clinical documentation across all healthcare settings and disciplines.

• Strong understanding of classification and reimbursement systems, including ICD-10, diagnosis-related groups, and all patient refined diagnosis-related groups.

• Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, computers, and encoding software.

• Proficient teaching and presentation capabilities.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and senior leadership.

• Detail-oriented with exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
