Pharmacy Technician – Prior Authorizations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Handle prior authorization requests received via phone, fax, or electronic means.

• Utilize computer resources, established criteria, and medication guidelines to conduct clinical research for prior authorization evaluations.

• Finalize prior authorization approvals and denials that are approaching expiration.

• Ensure thorough, timely, and precise documentation is maintained.

• Evaluate potential denial language for prior authorizations to ensure NCQA compliance.

• Adhere to prior authorization workflows, policies, and procedures.

• Respond to a high volume of inquiry calls from provider offices, pharmacies, and internal partners.

• Relay prior authorization status or decisions utilizing various computer resources.

• Maintain a balance of productivity, quality, and timeliness in work.

• Engage in mandatory training, continuing education, and departmental or team meetings.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must possess National Pharmacy Technician certification and a valid state Pharmacy Technician license, both in good standing, which should be maintained.

• 1-5+ years of experience in Pharmacy Prior Authorization processing is required.

• Strong multitasking and prioritization skills are necessary.

• Ability to adapt to changing business or departmental needs.

• Excellent organizational skills are essential.

• Must have home internet access with a minimum download speed of 100 Mbps.

• A secure workspace or office in the home is required.

• High-level PC skills, including the ability to navigate multiple systems and screens, are necessary.

• Consistently excellent attendance is required.

• Must be able to work 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays.

• Availability to extend hours when necessary is needed.

• Must be able to work rotating weekends.

• A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required.

• Experience in retail or hospital settings is preferred.

• Familiarity with Managed Care or Medicaid is preferred.

• AS400 experience is preferred.

• Proficiency in using computerized resources and software applications is preferred.

• Proficiency with Microsoft applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook, is preferred.

• Knowledge of pharmacy practices and procedures, as well as the ability to read and comprehend clinical information, is preferred.

• Working knowledge of drug dosage forms, drug strength, and both generic and brand name equivalents is preferred.
