This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska, +34 more states.
• Verify claim status via payer portals, phone calls, or email.
• Take appropriate steps to address denials and facilitate payment.
• Confirm eligibility and provider credentialing.
• Forward accounts to coding for necessary modifications.
• Supply medical records to validate medical necessity.
• Recognize trends and issues associated with payers.
• Handle payments, adjustments, claims, correspondence, refunds, denials, financial/charity applications, and payment plans as assigned.
• Reconcile and balance account balances, payments, and denials.
• Investigate payments, denials, and accounts to uncover underpayments, overpayments, contract discrepancies, financial-class errors, and internal/external errors.
• Submit appeals and make corrections as required.
• Cultivate relationships with business units, hospital departments, and provider offices.
• Address incoming calls and initiate outbound calls to resolve billing, payment, and accounting issues.
• Collaborate with the patient financial services team to meet outstanding account goals and reduce accounts receivable balances.
• Document information in systems, provide statistical data, prepare issue lists, and communicate with payors.
• Operate independently under general supervision and report to a Supervisor or Manager.
• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• One or more years of experience in patient financial services, financial services, collections, or the insurance industry.
• Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision and work independently.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Proficient in common office software, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Experience with the Company’s systems and processes is preferred.
• Prior cash collections experience is preferred.
• Additional related education and/or experience is advantageous.
• Must reside in one of the following states: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Florida, Iowa, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Washington, or Wyoming.
• Availability Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5pm Arizona time, with some flexibility after training.
