Per Diem RN – After-Hours TeleTriage

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Assess and address oncology patient symptoms through telephone and electronic communication platforms.

• Apply clinical judgment to identify the appropriate level and location of care.

• Collaborate with the on-call provider based on evaluations and patient requirements.

• Guide patients to the correct care setting, which may include MSK Symptom Care Clinics, Urgent Care Center, Shared Care-supported hospitals, or the local Emergency Department.

• Act as a clinical resource for patients and caregivers by providing guidance and education.

• Support departmental initiatives and implement new workflows aimed at enhancing care coordination.

• Advocate for patients and caregivers by anticipating their needs, eliminating obstacles, and ensuring prompt follow-up.

• Accurately document all clinical interactions to maintain continuity of care.

• Provide telephone-based triage for MSK oncology patients in their home environment.

• Address immediate patient concerns, communicate effectively with patients and caregivers, and document care in the MSK medical record.

⛳️ Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) is required.

• A valid NY or NJ RN license is required; a second state license must be obtained if selected for the position.

• A minimum of 1.5 years of RN experience is required.

• Experience in a Medical Oncology Office Practice is highly preferred.

• Proficiency with technology and electronic medical record documentation is essential.

• Experience in caring for patients with diverse oncology diagnoses is required.

• Ability to remain calm, decisive, and think critically in time-sensitive scenarios.

• Comfortable establishing rapport with patients and caregivers over the phone.

• A clear and confident communicator, both verbally and in writing.

• Skilled in educating patients and caregivers.

• Resilient, adaptable, and capable of managing high-acuity calls independently.
