Peer Reviewer – Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Conduct independent external medical reviews remotely on an as-needed basis.

• Perform objective, evidence-based peer evaluations of clinical cases relevant to the reviewer’s area of expertise.

• Assess medical necessity and/or standards of care.

• Make conclusive determinations regarding medical necessity and quality of care.

• Ensure that decisions are equitable, impartial, and consistent with current practice standards.

• Submit reviews promptly and professionally using the designated IT systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must possess an unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state.

• Board Certification is required (if applicable) from a board recognized by ABMS, AOA, or another nationally acknowledged certifying body.

• A minimum of five (5) years of full-time equivalent experience in providing direct clinical care to patients.

• Experience in delivering direct clinical care to patients within the last three (3) years.

• Familiarity with the issues under review, including current, evidence-based clinical guidelines and innovative treatments for the relevant condition, disease, treatment, or procedure.

• Clinical proficiency in managing the medical or behavioral health condition or disease under review.

• Must be actively involved in direct or virtual patient care for a minimum of 20 hours per week; administrative duties do not count.

• Reliable access to Wi-Fi.

• Competence in Microsoft Word.

• Access to a computer that is compatible with iMPROve Health’s IT systems.

• Completion of the electronic credentialing application and receipt of organizational approval is required before conducting a case review.

• Must complete a conflict of interest attestation during credentialing and prior to conducting a case review.

• Active hospital medical staff privileges may be necessary, as applicable.

• Must inform the organization of any adverse changes in licensure or certification status, including board certification.

• Cannot be currently employed or affiliated with any Veterans Affairs (VA) hospital, health care system, or medical center when applying for VA-related peer reviews.
