PDF Annotation, Transcription Expert – Japanese

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Review and verify assigned PDF pages for the Japanese language, ensuring clarity, relevance, and the absence of personal information.

• Identify and delineate every significant document region.

• Classify component types and establish reading-order indexes.

• Connect regions to their corresponding figures or tables using parent component identifiers.

• Accurately transcribe all text, including Japanese scripts, furigana, and handwritten content.

• Highlight any illegible source regions.

• Record language, document type, source, page dimensions, as well as flags for tables, formulas, and handwriting.

• Evaluate colleagues' annotation tasks comprehensively as an experienced annotator.

⛳️ Requirements

• Native Japanese speaker with complete proficiency in kanji, hiragana, katakana, furigana, and various character forms.

• Professional background in interpretation, journalism, transcription, translation, editorial tasks, or similar document-heavy roles.

• Exceptional character-level accuracy and meticulousness.

• Consistent application of a taxonomy across numerous pages.

• Familiarity with vertical text, multi-column newspapers, examination papers, and handwritten documents.

• Proficient Japanese language skills are essential.

• Must be an independent contractor.

• Currently unable to accommodate H1-B or STEM OPT candidates.
