Health Physicist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create challenging single-turn prompts within the health physics sector, addressing benign, dual-use, and adversarial contexts.

• Assess model outputs against established policy standards.

• Evaluate whether responses adequately address technical inquiries.

• Develop reference answers that clarify correct responses along with the technical rationale supporting them.

• Differentiate between standard professional questions and those suggesting potential misuse.

• Leverage practical knowledge in survey techniques, assay methods, contamination control, and work planning to challenge frontier AI models.

• Produce written explanations that are accessible to non-specialists.

• Engage in reading and writing about misuse scenarios in health physics over extended periods.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possess a background as an operational health physicist at a DOE site, national laboratory, or reactor facility, encompassing survey techniques, assay methods, and contamination control.

• Have experience as an internal dosimetry or bioassay specialist, which includes conducting intake assessments, dose reconstructions, and committed dose evaluations.

• Demonstrate experience as a health physicist involved in decommissioning and D&D, including conducting characterization surveys, applying MARSSIM, and understanding release criteria.

• Have experience in accelerator or reactor health physics, focusing on activation products, neutron fields, and shielding design and verification.

• Be skilled in dose planning for high-hazard activities, including the development of RWPs, ALARA reviews, and operations in hot-cell and glovebox environments.

• Capable of crafting challenging single-turn prompts that are categorized as benign, dual-use, and adversarial.

• Skilled in evaluating model responses against a defined policy standard.

• Able to compose reference answers with technical reasoning that is comprehensible to non-specialists.

• Previous experience in technical writing, published research, or serving as an expert witness is highly advantageous.

• Must refrain from using classified, export-controlled, NDA-covered, or prepublication-review information.

• Required to disclose any such obligations to appropriately scope the work.
