This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• The Payroll Manager position is accountable for overseeing the payroll function and providing tax consultation services to clients.
• This role involves collaborating with clients to formulate tax strategies and policies tailored to their operations and transactions.
• The individual will conduct both internal and external training sessions aimed at enhancing the career development of tax staff and senior accountants.
• Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing 1040 tax returns and various other tax forms.
• The Payroll Manager will also prepare and review tax equalization calculations.
• They will assist in addressing notices and serve as the client representative when interacting with tax authorities.
• Conducting gross-up computations for expatriates is a key aspect of this role.
• Maintaining payroll operations by gathering and inputting data, as well as reviewing payroll reports, is essential.
• The individual will work with clients to create tax-efficient solutions that meet their business requirements.
• Continuous expansion of tax knowledge and staying current with the latest tax regulations are expected.
• A bachelor's degree in Accounting or a tax concentration within an accounting program from an accredited college or university.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in individual income tax and payroll.
• A valid CPA or EA license is mandatory.
• Strong analytical and tax accounting skills are essential.
• Proficiency in tax accounting software, Excel, and Word is required.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, are necessary.
• The ability to manage multiple tasks while establishing daily, weekly, and monthly priorities is important.
• Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in reporting and communication is crucial.
• Proficiency in English at a business level is required; dual proficiency in Japanese is preferred or required.
