This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Manage the complete payroll processing for both US and international entities, including those in Singapore, Germany, Ireland, Cyprus, and Italy.
• Oversee external payroll vendors and local service providers, ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLA) and quality standards.
• Act as the main point of contact for payroll-related issues across Finance, Accounting, HR, and Legal departments.
• Address off-cycle payrolls, perform manual calculations, and manage retroactive adjustments as well as termination payroll runs.
• Ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations and statutory requirements in the relevant jurisdictions.
• Prepare and submit payroll tax returns, year-end documentation, and local employer statutory filings.
• Stay informed about regulatory changes and implement necessary payroll adjustments.
• Collaborate with Tax and Legal teams on cross-border employment structures, shadow payrolls, and treaty-related matters.
• Assist with payroll audits, inquiries from tax authorities, and statutory inspections.
• Process and reconcile payroll events related to RSUs, ESPPs, NQs, and ISOs.
• Supervise Workday HCM and ensure seamless integrations with payroll systems.
• Conduct audits of payroll input data, validate outputs, and uphold internal control measures.
• Facilitate month-end closing by preparing payroll journal entries, reconciling headcount, managing accruals, and balancing benefits.
• Lead initiatives for payroll process enhancements and automation.
• Provide guidance to HR/PeopleOps regarding payroll implications associated with compensation decisions, new hires, leaves of absence, and terminations.
• Address employee inquiries and escalations related to payroll matters.
• A minimum of 6 years of progressive payroll experience in a multi-country setting, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Extensive knowledge of US payroll tax regulations (federal, state, local) with required multi-state experience.
• Practical experience in processing payroll in at least two of the following countries: Singapore, Germany, Ireland, Cyprus, or Italy.
• Proficiency in Workday HCM/Payroll or a comparable global payroll system.
• Strong skills in Excel/Google Sheets are essential.
• Experience in managing payroll tax filings, year-end reconciliations, and statutory reporting across various jurisdictions.
• Familiarity with processing equity-related payroll transactions (RSU, ESPP, NQ, ISO) in a public company context.
• Detail-oriented with exceptional reconciliation abilities.
• Capability to simplify complex payroll concepts for those without payroll knowledge.
