Payroll Associate – Taxes

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Manages, audits, and files all periodic, quarterly, and year-end payroll tax responsibilities, encompassing Federal, State, and Local tax wages and withholdings across multiple states.

• Registers for payroll taxes in new or previously inactive jurisdictions.

• Establishes and maintains access to electronic tax account portals.

• Collaborates with agencies to obtain or confirm tax IDs, frequencies, rates, and account statuses.

• Investigates and liaises directly with Federal, State, and Local agencies to resolve discrepancies in tax return filings, including addressing penalty notices and requests for abatement.

• Reconciles W2s and 1099s on an annual basis.

• Researches and resolves payroll tax issues, providing timely solutions and escalating complex matters to the Lead Specialist.

• Conducts routine audits to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local payroll laws and regulations.

• Remains updated on payroll processing system enhancements and changes in wage and tax legislation.

• Communicates with Federal, State, and Local Tax Agencies to offer guidance to leaders and team members.

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is mandatory.

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in payroll or accounting within multi-state and large corporate environments is essential.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.

• Experience with Oracle Software or similar ERP Payroll Software.

• Employment eligibility verification through E-Verify is required for newly hired employees.
