Payroll Accounting Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Serve as the main preparer for the month-end and quarter-end closing calendar, checklist, and reconciliations.

• Lead the accounting team in presenting monthly and quarterly close fluctuations to management.

• Assume complete responsibility for payroll accounting functions, including processing, reconciliation, compliance, and reporting.

• Design and implement accounting procedures, internal controls, and compliance mechanisms in accordance with accounting policies and regulations.

• Drive enhancements in accounting processes with a focus on automation, efficiency, and scalability to support company growth.

• Cultivate and maintain technical accounting knowledge in payroll accounting compliance, processes, and controls.

• Draft accounting policies utilizing US GAAP technical accounting guidance and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.

• Identify inefficiencies within accounting processes and develop creative solutions.

• Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate audits and ensure timely completion of deliverables.

• Assist in processing the Company's employee equity grants.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possess 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in startup or high-growth settings, including 3+ years in a public company.

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with a preference for CPA certification (or equivalent).

• Demonstrated experience in payroll accounting and related compliance obligations.

• Proven history of successfully leading process improvement initiatives and system implementations.

• Proficient in NetSuite or similar accounting software, with a background in financial systems integration.

• Exhibit outstanding organizational skills with the capacity to prioritize and effectively manage multiple workstreams.

• Possess meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.

• Be a self-starter capable of working independently, identifying issues, and implementing solutions with minimal oversight.

• Have strong analytical skills with the ability to distill complex financial data into actionable insights.

• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.

• Experience in a fast-paced startup environment, particularly within the technology sector.

• Successfully led implementations or major upgrades of accounting systems.

• Expertise in developing and documenting streamlined processes that scale with company growth.

• Experience in creating automation solutions for accounting workflows.

• Thrive in ambiguous situations and excel in establishing structure in unstructured environments.

• Proven ability to identify inefficient processes and implement innovative solutions.
