This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Accurately process and post payments related to insurance, patients, collections, and miscellaneous items within set turnaround times.
• Manage the enrollment for ERA/EFT, track enrollment statuses, and oversee electronic payment processes for designated practices.
• Download, assess, and reconcile ERA, EOBs, and payment files sourced from clearinghouses and payer portals.
• Investigate and rectify discrepancies in payments, denials, recoupments, overpayments, and other account inconsistencies.
• Liaise with insurance carriers to retrieve missing EOBs, confirm payment details, and resolve payment-related concerns.
• Reconcile daily payment activities with bank deposits, ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions.
• Update and review patient accounts by applying payments, denials, deductibles, and contractual adjustments in accordance with payer contracts and company policies.
• Establish and maintain access to payer portals, and organize and scan payment-related documents in a timely manner.
• Achieve departmental productivity and accuracy targets while upholding confidentiality and providing outstanding customer service.
• Participate in cross-training for payment posting tasks and offer backup support for timely month-end closings and departmental operations.
• An associate degree in accounting, business, healthcare, or a medical billing certification is required.
• A high school diploma is acceptable with over 3 years of hands-on medical billing experience.
• A minimum of 1 year of specialized experience with a medical billing certificate, or at least 3 years of experience without a billing certificate is necessary.
• Capability to access, input, and retrieve information using a computer.
• Experience with medical software programs is mandatory.
• Familiarity with office procedures and equipment (e.g., computer, fax, copier, etc.) is required.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Office 365 is essential.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment is important.
• Strong communication skills to convey information accurately and succinctly are required.
• The ability to remain calm and composed under pressure is essential.
• A high level of interpersonal skills to manage sensitive and confidential matters is necessary.
• Availability from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time, with occasional weekend work is required.
