This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Accurately process and record insurance, patient, collection, and various payments within set turnaround times.
• Oversee ERA/EFT enrollment, track enrollment status, and manage electronic payment processing for designated practices.
• Download, assess, and reconcile ERA, EOBs, and payment files sourced from clearinghouses and payer portals.
• Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, denials, recoupments, overpayments, and other account variances.
• Reach out to insurance carriers to acquire missing EOBs, verify payment information, and address payment-related concerns.
• Reconcile daily payment activities with bank deposits to ensure the accuracy of financial transactions.
• Review and update patient accounts by applying payments, denials, deductibles, and contractual adjustments in accordance with payer contracts and company policies.
• Establish and maintain payer portal access while promptly organizing and scanning payment-related documentation.
• Achieve departmental productivity and accuracy goals while ensuring confidentiality and providing exceptional customer service.
• Participate in cross-training for payment posting tasks and offer backup support for timely month-end closings and departmental functions.
• Assist US Fertility, a national coalition of physician-led fertility practices, in providing reproductive medicine and fertility services.
• Associate degree in accounting, business, healthcare, or a medical billing certificate.
• High School Diploma is acceptable with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in medical billing.
• At least 1 year of specialized experience with a medical billing certificate, or a minimum of 3 years’ experience without a billing certificate.
• Proficient in accessing, inputting, and retrieving information using a computer.
• Required experience with medical software programs.
• Familiarity with office procedures and office equipment (e.g., computer, fax, copier, etc.).
• Competency in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software (MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Office 365).
• Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment.
• Capability to communicate accurately and succinctly.
• Ability to maintain composure and poise under pressure.
• Must possess a high level of interpersonal skills to manage sensitive and confidential situations.
• Availability to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time, with occasional weekends.
