Pavement Condition Index Survey & Annotation Specialist – Freelance AI Trainer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia.

📋 Description

• Review images of roadways, inspection documentation, and outputs generated by AI.

• Assess the accuracy and consistency of pavement distress types, severity levels, and condition evaluations in accordance with PCI methodology.

• Annotate or validate features of the pavement and patterns of distress, which may include cracking, rutting, spalling, patching, weathering, and other pavement conditions.

• Analyze images of roadways or excerpts from surveys.

• Confirm the classifications of pavement distress generated by AI.

• Provide written feedback detailing model misidentifications and errors in severity levels.

• Clarify the criteria inspectors use to differentiate between similar categories of distress.

• Explain the evaluation process for sampling units.

• Discuss how actual field conditions affect PCI scoring and reporting.

• Assist in training and assessing next-generation AI models.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience in conducting or interpreting Pavement Condition Index (PCI) surveys.

• Knowledge of PCI surveys, assessments of pavement condition, definitions of pavement distress, and associated rating criteria.

• Experience with inspection imagery, condition reports, or planning for roadway maintenance is highly advantageous.

• Excellent written communication skills.

• Capability to articulate the reasoning behind inspection choices and classification decisions in an organized manner.

• Keen attention to visual details.

• Consistent application of definitions of pavement distress and rating criteria.

• No previous AI or technical experience is necessary.
