Pavement Condition Index Survey & Annotation Specialist – Freelance AI Trainer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Greece.

📋 Description

• Examine roadway images, inspection records, and outputs generated by AI.

• Assess the accuracy and consistency of pavement distress types, severity levels, and condition evaluations in accordance with PCI methodology.

• Annotate or confirm pavement features and distress patterns, such as cracking, rutting, spalling, patching, weathering, and other typical pavement conditions.

• Analyze roadway imagery or excerpts from surveys.

• Validate AI-generated classifications of pavement distress.

• Provide written feedback to explain any model misidentifications and misinterpretations regarding severity levels.

• Clarify how inspectors differentiate between similar distress categories.

• Describe how sampling units are assessed.

• Discuss how real-world field conditions impact PCI scoring and reporting.

• Assist in training and evaluating advanced AI models for roadway condition analysis and infrastructure maintenance planning.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience in conducting or interpreting Pavement Condition Index (PCI) surveys.

• Knowledge of PCI surveys, pavement condition evaluations, definitions of pavement distress, and rating criteria.

• Background as a pavement professional, roadway inspector, pavement engineer, civil or transportation engineer, DOT specialist, highway inspector, or a related field.

• Experience with inspection imagery, condition reports, or roadway maintenance planning is highly advantageous.

• Strong written communication skills.

• Capability to articulate inspection reasoning and classification decisions in a clear and structured manner.

• Keen attention to visual detail.

• Consistent application of pavement distress definitions and rating criteria.

• No previous AI or technical experience is necessary.

• Contractor will provide secure computer and high-speed internet access.
