Pavement Condition Index Survey, Annotation Specialist – Freelance AI Trainer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Croatia.

📋 Description

• Examine roadway images, inspection records, and outputs generated by AI.

• Assess the accuracy and consistency of pavement distress types, severity levels, and condition evaluations in accordance with PCI methodology.

• Annotate or confirm pavement characteristics and distress patterns, including cracking, rutting, spalling, patching, weathering, and other prevalent pavement conditions.

• Analyze roadway imagery or excerpts from surveys.

• Validate classifications of pavement distress produced by AI.

• Offer written feedback detailing model misclassifications and errors in severity levels.

• Clarify how inspectors differentiate between similar distress categories.

• Describe the evaluation process for sampling units.

• Take into account real-world field conditions when scoring and reporting PCI.

• Assist in training and assessing next-generation AI models.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience in conducting or interpreting Pavement Condition Index (PCI) surveys.

• Knowledge of PCI surveys, definitions of pavement distress, rating criteria, and assessments of pavement conditions.

• Experience with inspection imagery, condition reports, or roadway maintenance planning is highly beneficial.

• Excellent written communication skills.

• Capability to articulate inspection reasoning and classification decisions in a structured manner.

• Strong attention to visual detail.

• Ability to consistently apply definitions of pavement distress and rating criteria.

• No prior experience in AI or technical backgrounds is necessary.
