This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +13 more states.
• Verify and gather patient demographic and insurance details via direct data entry into the electronic medical record during scheduling and referrals.
• Conduct in-person or inbound/outbound telephone interviews with patients or their authorized representatives.
• Securely and accurately document information pertaining to requested services, patient/provider contact, orders, insurance verification, financial education, and payments.
• Navigate web-based products and system applications for registration, scheduling, insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorization documentation.
• Identify patients and select insurance carriers for designated medical service dates.
• Provide explanations regarding scheduled procedures, patient instructions, legal forms, insurance eligibility, coverage, and financial assistance programs.
• Obtain necessary signatures and collect patient financial responsibilities; execute payment entry and cash reconciliation.
• Perform PBX switchboard duties, route calls, page codes and fire alarms, and respond to requests from patients, providers, and hospital departments.
• Assist clinical departments with registration, scheduled-service data entry, provider-order requirements, insurance coverage, and financial assistance inquiries.
• Report safety incidents using the Midas/RDE tool and adhere to safety procedures, regulations, statutes, and company policies.
• Maintain necessary certifications and licenses, completing mandatory training and job-specific modules punctually.
• High School Diploma or GED - Required.
• Coursework in Medical Terminology - Preferred.
• Basic computer skills, including typing at a rate of 25–35 words per minute - Preferred.
• One year of experience in a call center or customer service role, or one year of experience in a medical facility - Preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) - Preferred.
• Understanding of computers and competence in using basic software programs.
• Fundamental knowledge of healthcare compliance standards, including EMTALA and HIPAA Privacy Patient Confidentiality regulations.
• Basic understanding of CPT and ICD-10 diagnosis coding documentation.
• Basic knowledge of Medicare, AHCCCS/Medicaid, Workers’ Compensation, and requirements of other commercial payers.
• Remote employees are not required to have fingerprint clearance cards; such cards are necessary for those working onsite within NAHMG clinics.
