This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +13 more states.
• Verify and gather patient demographic and insurance information through direct data entry into the electronic medical record during scheduling and referrals.
• Conduct face-to-face or inbound/outbound telephone interviews with patients or authorized representatives.
• Accurately record discussions and referral/scheduling activities in the encounter, schedule book, and patient chart.
• Navigate web-based products and system applications for registration and scheduling purposes.
• Identify patients and input clinical, demographic, and insurance information for registration and appointment booking.
• Explain scheduled procedures, patient instructions, legal forms, insurance eligibility, coverage, and financial assistance programs.
• Document patient/provider contact, order documentation, insurance verification, financial education, and payments.
• Secure necessary signatures and perform insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorization activities.
• Notify relevant parties and document insurance authorizations for medical services, procedures, and inpatient/observation stays.
• Apply basic knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 diagnosis coding documentation.
• Collect patient financial liabilities and perform payment entry and cash reconciliation.
• Execute PBX switchboard functions, route calls, page codes and fire alarms, and respond to requests from patients, providers, and departments.
• Assist clinical departments with registration, scheduling, patient account data entry, provider order requirements, insurance coverage, and financial assistance inquiries.
• Report safety incidents, participate in safety training, comply with regulations and company policies, maintain necessary certifications/licenses, and complete mandatory training.
• High School Diploma or GED - Required.
• Medical Terminology Coursework - Preferred.
• Basic level of computer skills, including keyboarding at 25–35 words per minute - Preferred.
• 1 year of call center or customer service experience, or 1 year of experience in a medical facility - Preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) - Preferred.
• Understanding of computers and competence in using basic software programs.
• Fingerprint clearance cards are required for those who will work onsite within any NAHMG clinics; not necessary for remote employees.
