This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee both incoming and outgoing communications with patients, guarantors, insurance providers, and legal representatives.
• Conduct conference calls and direct calls to the relevant departments as needed.
• Assess and resolve issues related to uninsured accounts, remaining patient financial obligations post-insurance, and accounts that require special attention or investigation.
• Clarify coverage information and payment options to patients or responsible parties.
• Process payments when required.
• Review, document, and address communications from patients or responsible parties.
• Execute skip tracing to ensure optimal contact.
• Collaborate across various departments on multiple assignments.
• Support remedial training and interdepartmental initiatives.
• Make final judgments regarding collectability and outstanding balances.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.
• This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
• High school diploma or GED, with three to four years of relevant experience and/or training; or a suitable combination of education and experience.
• Preferred 4–5 years of experience in the healthcare billing and collections sector.
• Required knowledge of all Government, Commercial, and Private payers.
• Preferred 2 years of experience in high-value collections and financial debt counseling.
• Required previous experience with dialer systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills; detail-oriented with the capacity to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Advanced customer service and telephonic skills.
• Ability to balance compassionate and empathetic customer service with the goals of account resolution.
• Strong problem-solving skills and capability to conduct complex claim analysis.
• Ability to comprehend business processes and make informed decisions.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Required certification from the American Association of Healthcare Administration Management (AAHAM).
