Patient Referral Coordinator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Manage referrals from medical providers and new patients to Behavioral Health.

• Ensure the seamless operation of referral and scheduling processes.

• Complete prior authorizations as necessary.

• Oversee referrals and follow-up appointments, collect required information, and schedule appointments.

• Gather demographic, insurance, verification, and eligibility details for new patients.

• Register new patients within the system.

• Prepare and arrange new patient charts.

• Schedule, cancel, and reschedule appointments in accordance with physician and office guidelines.

• Inform clinic staff about changes in physician schedules.

• Document authorization and referral communications in patient charts and the computer system.

• Act as receptionist by providing general information and guiding visitors.

• Respond to office phone calls, direct incoming calls, and take or relay messages.

• Complete and submit hospital charges for billing purposes.

• Prepare and send data to third-party vendors.

• Carry out additional job functions as needed or requested.

⛳️ Requirements

• Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent.

• Required: 3–5 years of experience in a healthcare or medical office setting.

• Ability to cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external customers.

• Capability to thrive in a multitasking environment with a keen attention to detail.

• Proficient in working effectively and productively without close supervision.

• Capacity to exercise independent judgment in decision-making processes.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficient in Windows-based applications, especially Excel and Word.

• Ability to operate standard office equipment, including fax and copy machines.

• Must possess good balance and coordination.

• Capability to perform physical activities such as climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. frequently.

• Close visual acuity for tasks such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing computer screens, and extensive reading.
