This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the primary contact for patients concerning billing inquiries through phone, email, patient portal, 2-way text, and chat platforms.
• Oversee patient billing and collections for past medical and clinical appointments utilizing athenahealth.
• Track trends in patient queries and escalate recurring issues to management.
• Accurately record payments from insurance companies and patients, including contractual adjustments and denials.
• Interpret and clarify insurance coverage and patient financial responsibilities.
• Address patient billing complaints, provide suitable solutions, and escalate more complex issues when necessary.
• Collaborate with the Revenue Cycle Management team on billing, coding, and workflow challenges.
• Work together with team members and other departments to enhance patient experience and service delivery.
• Support overall functions and initiatives within the Revenue Cycle Department.
• Aid in the submission of invoices for vendors and participating clinical trials.
• High school diploma or equivalent; a college degree is preferred.
• Prior experience in patient billing, collections, and healthcare customer service.
• Comprehensive understanding of insurance processes, patient eligibility, and the claims denial and rejection process.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; able to convey information clearly to patients and team members.
• Strong active listening and problem-solving abilities; capable of staying calm and composed under pressure.
• Proficiency in using electronic health record software (Athena preferred) and other relevant computer applications.
• Dedication to delivering outstanding customer service and representing the company in a professional manner.
• Authorized to work in the United States; the company cannot sponsor visas.
• Experience in explaining healthcare billing scenarios to patients.
• Familiarity with a practice management or EHR system for billing-related activities.
