This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Ensure that collections within a call center setting are precise, timely, and thoroughly documented from a Centralized Collections Office.
• Facilitate efficient cash collection through reimbursement methods while ensuring adherence to pertinent laws, regulations, Hanger policies, and compliance programs.
• Follow adjustment, refund, and write-off policies and procedures diligently.
• Handle inbound collection calls effectively.
• Maintain and manage databases by entering, updating, retrieving data, formatting, and generating reports.
• Address outstanding invoice issues from overdue accounts.
• Respond to inquiries from customers or external collection agencies.
• Make calls or send messages regarding unresolved issues.
• Examine and monitor assigned encounters along with relevant collection reports.
• Assess open encounters for collection activities.
• Conduct collection calls and utilize online resources professionally while enhancing customer relationships.
• Resolve billing issues and minimize accounts receivable delinquency.
• Collect customer payments according to their due dates.
• Identify factors contributing to account delinquency and discuss them with management.
• Provide prompt follow-up.
• Send correspondence urging payment of overdue accounts.
• Communicate effectively with Patient Care Clinics regarding collection activities.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical collections.
• At least 2 years of office administrative experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must possess or be eligible to acquire a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets the standards outlined in Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.
• An associate degree is preferred.
• Experience in a medical office is preferred.
• Familiarity with EMR systems (NextGen and/or OnBase) is preferred.
• Ability to type at least 40 words per minute with accuracy is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, oral (including telephone), and written communication skills are essential.
• Capability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work effectively with physically challenged individuals.
• Working knowledge of state, federal, and regional collection and reimbursement laws, along with HIPAA and other medical insurance regulations and terminology (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, modifiers, coding, and documentation guidelines).
• Proficient in computer skills, including Windows-based office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and automated billing systems.
• Competent in using necessary office equipment such as facsimile machines, calculators, postage machines, and copiers.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of detail orientation in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in basic math and accounting skills.
