This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +21 more states.
• Handle patient payments over the phone according to financial responsibility guidelines.
• Establish, modify, and manage payment plans.
• Ensure the accuracy of transactions, documentation, and data integrity.
• Interpret and clarify claim notes, balances, and billing results.
• Verify, audit, and update insurance details.
• Add or modify insurance information in the EMR and resubmit pending or corrected claims.
• Inform patients about deductibles, coinsurance, copays, coordination of benefits, timely filing, and claim denials.
• Identify discrepancies and collaborate with internal teams to resolve billing matters.
• Investigate account history to identify causes of billing or payment issues.
• Suggest solutions and next steps in accordance with company policies.
• Utilize billing systems, EMR platforms, tools, and knowledge resources.
• Navigate multiple systems concurrently while assisting patients.
• Adhere to schedule and be available during assigned hours.
• Complete mandatory training and engage in uptraining and cross-training.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, confidentiality, privacy, documentation, and security standards.
• Deliver professional, accountable, empathetic, and patient-focused service.
• Experience in customer service or call center roles is required.
• Prior experience in healthcare billing, insurance, or claims is highly preferred.
• Experience in payment processing or financial transactions is preferred.
• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Technical proficiency with EMR systems and standard computer applications is necessary.
• Ability to work independently in a remote or virtual environment is essential.
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English is required.
• A background check is mandatory in accordance with applicable laws.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Analytical problem-solving skills and attention to detail are crucial.
• A solid understanding of healthcare billing and insurance principles is necessary.
• Ability to communicate complex billing information in a way that is easily understood by patients.
• Comfort with multitasking across various systems and tools is vital.
• An organized, self-motivated, and collaborative work approach is important.
• A shift differential of $1/hour for night and weekend shifts.
• Paid training, typically lasting 2 weeks.
• Full-time position, requiring 40 hours per week.
• Eligibility for benefits starting on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
