This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +21 more states.
• Handle patient payments via phone in accordance with Privia's financial responsibility policies.
• Develop, modify, and manage payment plans.
• Ensure accuracy in transactions, documentation, and data integrity.
• Clarify and explain claim notes, balances, and billing results to patients.
• Verify, audit, and update insurance details.
• Add or revise insurance information in the EMR and resubmit any pending or corrected claims.
• Educate patients on coordination of benefits, deductibles, coinsurance, copays, timely filing, and claim denials.
• Identify discrepancies and collaborate with internal teams to resolve billing issues.
• Investigate account history to ascertain causes of billing or payment issues.
• Propose resolutions and next steps in line with Privia's policies.
• Utilize approved billing systems, EMR platforms, tools, and resources.
• Navigate various systems while assisting patients.
• Maintain adherence to schedules and be available during assigned hours.
• Complete necessary training and engage in uptraining and cross-training.
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations, confidentiality, privacy, and security standards.
• Deliver professional, accountable, empathetic, and patient-centered service.
• Previous customer service or call center experience is essential.
• Strong preference for candidates with healthcare billing, insurance, or claims experience.
• Preferred experience in payment processing or financial transactions.
• A high school diploma or GED is mandatory.
• Proficient technical skills with EMR systems and standard computer applications.
• Capability to work independently in a remote or virtual setting.
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend English fluently.
• Background check is required as per applicable laws.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Solid grasp of healthcare billing and insurance concepts.
• Ability to convey complex billing information in a patient-friendly manner.
• Comfortable working across multiple systems and tools at the same time.
• Organized, self-motivated, and collaborative work approach is essential.
• Must reside in one of the following states: AL, GA, ID, IA, IN, KS, LA, MI, MS, NV, NC, ND, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TX, TN, UT, VA, WV, WI, or WY.
• Starting pay of $14 per hour.
• Shift differential of $1 per hour for night and weekend shifts.
• Paid training, usually lasting 2 weeks.
• Full-time position consisting of 40 hours per week.
• Benefits become eligible on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
