This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +21 more states.
• Assist patients with payment processing, billing education, insurance verification, and inquiries related to claims.
• Execute payment processing and manage payment plan functions.
• Accurately handle patient payments over the phone in accordance with financial responsibility policies.
• Create, update, and maintain payment plans as needed.
• Interpret and clarify claim notes, outstanding balances, and billing outcomes.
• Verify, audit, and update insurance information accurately.
• Add or modify insurance data within the EMR and resubmit claims that are pending or need correction.
• Educate patients regarding coordination of benefits, deductibles, coinsurance, copays, timely filing, and claim denials.
• Identify discrepancies and collaborate with internal teams to resolve billing issues effectively.
• Research account histories to determine the root causes of billing or payment concerns.
• Recommend resolutions and next steps that align with company policies.
• Navigate various billing systems, EMR platforms, tools, and knowledge resources proficiently.
• Comply with documentation standards, privacy, security, HIPAA, and confidentiality requirements.
• Maintain schedule adherence and availability during assigned hours.
• Complete necessary training and engage in ongoing uptraining and cross-training sessions.
• Exhibit professionalism, accountability, empathy, and a patient-centered approach to service.
• Prior customer service or call center experience is necessary.
• Experience in healthcare billing, insurance, or claims is strongly preferred.
• Background in payment processing or financial transactions is advantageous.
• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Additional education in billing or healthcare is a plus.
• Technical proficiency with EMR systems and standard computer applications is essential.
• Ability to work independently in a remote or virtual setting.
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English is required.
• A background check is mandatory in accordance with applicable laws.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills and a high attention to detail are required.
• A solid understanding of healthcare billing and insurance concepts is essential.
• Ability to clearly articulate complex billing information in a patient-friendly manner.
• Comfort working across multiple systems and tools simultaneously is important.
• An organized, self-motivated, and collaborative work approach is required.
• Starting pay of $14/hr.
• Shift differential of $1/hr for night and weekend shifts.
• Paid training, typically lasting 2 weeks.
• Full-time position at 40 hours per week.
• Eligible for benefits on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
