Patient Access Specialist – Telecom

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Respond to incoming calls to the clinic, assess the needs of callers, and direct calls to the appropriate department.

• Exhibit extensive knowledge of the organization, department locations, satellite facilities, and operational hours for over 350 providers.

• Carry out overhead paging and maintain communication among staff and departments during emergencies or code situations.

• Offer a 24-hour answering service to clinic providers, administration, IT, facilities management, and various other departments and offices.

• Update on-call information and log exceptions.

• Conduct research for management as needed.

• Execute TeleNurse Intake responsibilities, which involve identifying patients needing TeleNurse services, locating patients in the EHR and Triage system, verifying patient details, updating information, and registering new patients.

• Direct emergency calls to the office nurse/TeleNurse following established emergency protocols.

• Comply with patient service standards and departmental workflow procedures.

• Report workflow issues and complaints to the Manager.

• Adhere to Springfield Clinic's incident reporting policies and procedures.

• Deliver exceptional customer service and uphold Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or GED is a must.

• At least one (1) year of experience in a medical office and/or phone setting is preferred.

• Must reside within a 40-mile radius of Springfield, IL.

• Proficient and accurate typing skills are necessary.

• Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.

• Strong deductive reasoning skills.

• Capability to work accurately under pressure.

• Excellent attendance record in prior employment.

• Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of relevant software applications.

• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.

• Compliance with HIPAA privacy level requirements.

• Commitment to adhere to OSHA standards and Springfield Clinic training and achievements as mandated by policy.
