This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Register patients and coordinate appointment and surgery scheduling.
• Verify demographic, clinical, financial, and insurance details during the pre-registration process.
• Accept point-of-service payments or offer guidance regarding payment options.
• Ensure patients are cleared for service delivery.
• Confirm patient identity, demographic data, and insurance coverage.
• Accurately input patient information into hospital information systems.
• Refer patients with financial liability inquiries to the appropriate resources.
• Accept medical authorization or referral documents when applicable.
• Process essential documents to gather insurance information.
• Provide estimates for out-of-pocket costs for patients.
• Educate patients and families about registration kiosks or online systems.
• Identify common issues and escalate them to the Lead Patient Access Concierge.
• High school diploma is required.
• An associate degree is preferred.
• One to three (1-3) years of experience in a hospital or clinic setting, insurance company, managed care organization, or other health care financial service environments performing medical claims processing, financial counseling, financial clearance, accounting, or customer service tasks.
• Relevant customer service experience in a different industry may also be considered.
• Preferred knowledge of insurance and government programs, regulations, and billing processes (including Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security Disability, Champus, and Supplemental Security Income Disability), managed care contracts, and benefit coordination.
• Preferred working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and medical record coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Strong data entry skills and organizational capabilities.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, ability to work independently, and effective time management skills.
