Part-Time Weekend Editor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Lead the weekend newsroom at The Daily Wire by establishing editorial priorities and directing the coverage of breaking news and significant developing stories.

• Make real-time decisions regarding story placement, urgency, and allocation of resources.

• Supervise the reporting, editing, and publication of news content to ensure accuracy, clarity, speed, and adherence to editorial standards.

• Manage and mentor weekend reporters, assign stories, provide editorial advice, and guarantee that deadlines are met.

• Coordinate coverage of breaking news and adapt to changing events in a fast-paced setting.

• Collaborate with homepage, audience, production, and editorial teams to enhance the reach and impact of weekend coverage.

• Work with senior leadership and legal counsel as necessary to ensure responsible, ethical, and legally compliant reporting.

• Safeguard confidential information and journalistic sources while upholding information security and integrity.

• Report directly to the Managing Editor.

⛳️ Requirements

• A background in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or a related field is preferred.

• Strong editorial judgment in the field of news journalism.

• Exceptional skills in editing and fact-checking.

• Capability to lead newsroom coverage with limited resources.

• In-depth understanding of news cycles, politics, and current events.

• Ability to make sound decisions under the pressure of tight deadlines.
