This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Oversee all facets of article editing

• Manage editorial content, design, and photography, encompassing digital media

• Conduct reviews, proofreading, and fact-checking of all written material

• Execute detailed and intricate website CMS design tasks, including art research

• Assess and evaluate current trends and events to provide strategic publishing recommendations

• Act as a liaison between contributors, faculty, and authors

• Solicit and/or assess manuscripts and manuscript proposals

• Identify and recruit writers for upcoming projects, particularly those with direct experience of the carceral system

• Choose topics and develop content

• Organize and supervise external writers and staff

• Direct the daily operations of the Assistant Editor and Communications role

• Oversee Inquest's publication calendar and editorial workflow in ClickUp

• Manage the author payment process

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

• 5 or more years of experience in communications, publishing, or a related field

• Strong commitment to the mission, objectives, and values of Inquest and the Institute to End Mass Incarceration

• Excellent copyediting and proofreading abilities

• Proficient in Word, particularly with its suite of reviewing tools

• Skilled in InDesign

• Experienced with WordPress

• Knowledgeable in MailChimp

• Proficient with Google Drive and Docs

• Skilled in Excel

• Proficient with Zoom

• Experienced with Slack

• Familiarity with ClickUp is a plus

• Must fulfill work location sponsorship requirements before employment
