This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Execute precise surgical coding for assigned Neurology surgery chart types.
• Analyze clinical documentation and diagnostic findings to gather relevant data.
• Implement correct ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT/HCPCS codes for purposes of coding, billing, reporting, research, and regulatory compliance.
• Code conditions and procedures in accordance with ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines, CMS/MAC regulations, CPT standards, and other mandated coding protocols.
• Assess coding-related payer denials and suggest actions for resolving claims.
• Achieve and maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% while adhering to productivity benchmarks.
• Manage the review queue on a daily basis and relay corrections to the facility.
• Identify and communicate charts that require re-bills on a daily basis.
• Report any coder downtime promptly to administrative staff.
• Collaborate directly with IQC staff to fulfill facility quality standards.
• Address physician and hospital coding or billing inquiries within eight hours.
• Code or pend every chart in the queue within 24 hours and inform administrative staff if turnaround times cannot be met.
• Check the Guidehouse email system at least every two hours during coding activities.
• Uphold professional credentials throughout the duration of employment.
• Utilize the Guidehouse coding website as a daily resource for coding and abstraction.
• Ensure workstations are compliant with HIPAA regulations.
• Review and adhere to coding division policies and procedures.
• Work in partnership with facility coding and billing teams to enhance efficiency and reimbursement.
• Promptly communicate any issues or discrepancies in coding to the supervisor.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 3 years of experience in Neurology Surgery Coding, including inpatient and outpatient coding for physician claims.
• CPC certification from AAPC is required.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• Must maintain certification throughout employment.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and interact with personnel and clients at all levels.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• High degree of accuracy is essential.
• Strong understanding and practical experience with Federal and State Coding regulations and guidelines.
• Availability to work 20 hours per week.
• Experience in multi-specialty surgical coding is a plus.
• Coding experience with Neuro Trauma cases, such as spinal and brain traumas, is advantageous.
• Experience coding for teaching hospitals is a plus.
• Familiarity with EPIC is considered a plus.
