Part Time Faculty, Music

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Provide online instruction to undergraduate and/or graduate students.

• Initiate, facilitate, engage, and moderate online classroom discussions.

• Conduct classes utilizing the Community of Inquiry Framework, which includes Teaching Presence, Cognitive Presence, and Social Presence.

• Assess and grade assignments, coursework, and papers according to APUS policy timelines.

• Offer constructive feedback to foster student learning and achievement.

• Actively participate in the classroom and respond to emails at least every other day, including one weekend day.

• Stay informed about classroom protocols and instructional resources.

• Engage in ongoing professional development.

• Perform scholarly research and engage in professional activities.

• Attend meetings specific to the discipline and administrative matters.

• Keep updated on disciplinary knowledge through professional communities.

• Support APUS initiatives and departmental activities.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Master's degree in Music or a closely related discipline from a regionally accredited institution is mandatory.

• Experience in college-level teaching is required.

• Prior experience in online teaching is preferred.

• A proven track record of excellence in teaching is essential.

• Submit a CV along with unofficial transcripts for master's degree and higher.

• Foreign degrees must undergo a course-by-course evaluation by a NACES-approved agency.

• Applicants are accountable for any costs related to official transcripts and foreign transcript evaluations.

• Complete the “Engaging the First-Year Student Certification” course (APUS110) within six months of employment.

• Graduate Faculty must finish the Graduate Faculty Certification (APUS501) within 90 days of employment.

• Adhere to the APUS Faculty Handbook, APUS Employee Handbook, APEI Employee Handbook, and relevant Course Assignments.
