Part Time Faculty – Chemistry

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Provide online instruction to undergraduate and/or graduate students.

• Initiate, facilitate, engage, and moderate discussions in online classroom forums.

• Conduct classes utilizing the Community of Inquiry Framework.

• Assess and grade student assignments, coursework, and papers in accordance with APUS policy timelines.

• Offer constructive feedback to enhance student learning and achievement.

• Adhere to APUS guidelines and expectations for quality engagement as an online faculty member.

• Actively participate in the classroom and respond to emails at least every other day, including one weekend day.

• Stay informed about classroom procedures and instructional resources.

• Engage in professional development to improve teaching competencies and online learning methodologies.

• Conduct academic research and take part in professional engagement activities.

• Attend meetings related to the discipline and administrative matters.

• Keep abreast of developments in the discipline through professional communities.

• Support initiatives and departments at APUS.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Master's degree in Chemistry or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution is mandatory.

• Experience teaching at the college level is essential.

• A proven track record of excellence in teaching is required.

• Experience in online teaching is preferred.

• A Doctoral degree is preferred.

• Completion of the “Engaging the First-Year Student Certification” course (APUS110) is required within six months of hire.

• Graduate Faculty must complete the Graduate Faculty Certification (APUS501) within 90 days of hire.

• Candidates with degrees from international institutions must obtain a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES-approved agency.

• The applicant is responsible for any fees associated with official transcript and foreign transcript evaluations.
