This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the enterprise implementation strategy for the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) at GE Vernova.
• Keep track of evolving European packaging legislation and convert regulatory requirements into actionable business procedures.
• Create and update the PPWR compliance roadmap, detailing milestones, resource needs, and implementation schedules.
• Act as the main technical authority on packaging sustainability regulations, including aspects such as recyclability, recycled content, packaging minimization, labeling, and documentation requirements.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to pinpoint compliance gaps and execute corrective measures.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate regulatory requirements into product and packaging design standards.
• Work with sourcing and suppliers to ensure that packaging materials and documentation comply with regulatory standards.
• Establish governance processes, metrics, dashboards, and executive reporting for PPWR and future EPR compliance.
• Ensure that corporate packaging specifications, procedures, and design guidelines are in line with global packaging-related regulations.
• Conduct packaging compliance risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
• Assist in internal and external audits related to packaging compliance alongside the Supplier Quality Engineering organization.
• Create training materials and lead educational sessions for engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, and commercial teams.
• Collaborate with industry associations, regulatory bodies, and external consultants on regulatory updates and best practices.
• Offer strategic advice to senior leadership on regulatory risks, implementation priorities, and investment needs.
• Propel global packaging strategy initiatives, including the elimination/minimization of packaging materials, reusable transport packaging, recycled-content materials, design for end-of-life recycling, avoidance of difficult-to-recycle designs, and standardized packaging components across GE Vernova businesses.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Supply Chain, Packaging Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
• A minimum of 7 years in regulatory compliance, packaging engineering, product compliance, sustainability, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in interpreting and implementing complex international regulations.
• Strong project and program management background, particularly in leading cross-functional initiatives.
• Exceptional communication and executive presentation abilities.
• Ability to influence stakeholders across various business functions without direct authority.
• Capacity to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic global environment.
• Experience with European environmental regulations, including PPWR, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), or packaging directives.
• Understanding of packaging design, materials, recyclability standards, and sustainable packaging practices.
• Background in manufacturing, energy, industrial equipment, or other highly regulated sectors.
• Familiarity with lifecycle assessment (LCA), circular economy principles, and sustainability reporting.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent program management experience.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
