This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
⢠Drive the enterprise implementation strategy for the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) at GE Vernova.
⢠Keep a close watch on the changing landscape of European packaging legislation and convert regulatory requirements into effective business processes.
⢠Create and sustain the PPWR compliance roadmap, outlining milestones, resource needs, and timelines for implementation.
⢠Act as the key technical authority on packaging sustainability regulations, including aspects like recyclability, recycled content, packaging minimization, labeling, and documentation standards.
⢠Oversee cross-functional teams to pinpoint compliance gaps and enact corrective measures.
⢠Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate regulatory requirements into product and packaging design standards.
⢠Work together with sourcing and suppliers to ensure that packaging materials and documentation comply with regulatory standards.
⢠Develop governance processes, metrics, dashboards, and executive reporting for PPWR as well as future EPR compliance.
⢠Ensure corporate packaging specifications, procedures, and design guidelines are in line with global packaging regulations.
⢠Conduct packaging compliance risk assessments and devise mitigation strategies.
⢠Assist in internal and external packaging compliance audits alongside the Supplier Quality Engineering team.
⢠Create training materials and facilitate educational sessions for engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, and commercial teams.
⢠Engage with industry associations, regulatory bodies, and external consultants to stay updated on regulatory trends and best practices.
⢠Offer strategic advice to senior leadership regarding regulatory risks, implementation priorities, and necessary investments.
⢠Implement a global packaging strategy emphasizing material reduction/minimization, reusable transport packaging, recycled content, end-of-life recyclability, avoidance of hard-to-recycle designs, and standardized packaging components.
⢠A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Supply Chain, Packaging Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
⢠Over 7 years of experience in regulatory compliance, packaging engineering, product compliance, sustainability, or a similar area.
⢠Proven experience in interpreting and implementing complex international regulations.
⢠Strong project and program management skills, with a record of leading cross-functional initiatives.
⢠Exceptional communication and executive presentation abilities.
⢠Experience in influencing stakeholders across various business functions without direct authority.
⢠Capacity to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic global setting.
⢠Familiarity with European environmental regulations, including PPWR, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), or packaging directives.
⢠Knowledge of packaging design, materials, recyclability standards, and sustainable packaging practices.
⢠Background in manufacturing, energy, industrial equipment, or other heavily regulated sectors.
⢠Understanding of lifecycle assessment (LCA), circular economy concepts, and sustainability reporting.
⢠Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent program management experience.
