Packaging Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Idaho.

📋 Description

• Create innovative packaging solutions tailored for e-commerce and retail settings.

• Design primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging that complies with safety, regulatory, sustainability, and performance standards.

• Showcase structural design concepts through several rounds of refinement.

• Keep packaging specifications and database records up to date.

• Generate technical drawings, specification sheets, bills of materials, pallet patterns, and manufacturing documentation.

• Assess packaging solutions to enhance user experience, sustainability, performance, quality, and cost-efficiency.

• Offer expert knowledge on sustainability and business performance issues related to packaging.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, packaging engineering, or a related discipline.

• Experience in developing packaging for market-ready products that are available for purchase.

• In-depth knowledge of packaging materials and manufacturing techniques.

• Proficient understanding of sustainable packaging design methodologies.

• Experience in contributing directly to product profitability evaluations, including comprehensive freight and fulfillment costs.

• Background in designing packaging for products constructed from wood, plastic, and cotton.

• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

• Demonstrated knowledge and capability in designing for print production.

• Strong enthusiasm for packaging design and a foundational grasp of macro design trends.

• Portfolio that exhibits visual thinking along with digital and physical iterations.

• High proficiency in ArtiosCAD, TOPS, SolidWorks, and Adobe Illustrator.

• Comprehensive understanding of toy safety regulations related to distribution and packaging retention (preferred).

• Familiarity with toy manufacturing processes, such as injection molding and wood production (preferred).
