Oversight and Governance Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee and govern periodic and annual evaluations in line with cybersecurity and Federal standards.

• Manage data requests, gather evidence, conduct access testing, interviews, walkthroughs, and assessments of controls.

• Assess the effectiveness of programs and controls while ensuring all evidence is complete, traceable, and timely.

• Address vulnerabilities, findings, and gaps through remediation, validation, updates to documentation, and closure processes.

• Provide contractor support for Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V), Quality Assurance (QA), compliance with LMM, process evaluations, system audits, and Government oversight.

• Ensure traceability of configuration items, baselines, and builds that support lifecycle, change, and configuration management.

• Coordinate responses to authorized Federal inquiries, studies, inspections, validations, and audits.

• Direct the implementation and maintenance of the Government-sanctioned Quality Control Plan.

• Uphold an inspection system and quality checks that facilitate Government oversight and compliant deliverables.

• Handle deficiencies and nonconforming work through root-cause analysis, corrective actions, validation, documentation, and closure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

• 5–10 years of experience in cybersecurity, information assurance, governance, assessment/authorization, audit/compliance, or quality assurance.

• A senior industry certification such as CISSP or an equivalent credential.

• Proven experience in planning and leading major cybersecurity projects, serving as a technical expert across multiple high-impact tasks.

• Familiarity with NIST controls/assessment methodologies, Federal Risk Management Framework (RMF)/Assessment & Authorization (A&A), Operational Security Assessment (OSA), continuous monitoring, vulnerability management, security operations, and remediation strategies.

• Experience in supporting Government cybersecurity evaluations/audits, IV&V/QA/LMM assessments, configuration traceability, Quality Control Plan (QCP)/inspection processes, and management of findings and corrective actions.

• Strong skills in stakeholder coordination, technical writing, analysis, and delivering briefings.

• Ability to evaluate outcomes, suggest significant improvements, and oversee assigned personnel as needed.

• Capability to obtain a 6c Public Trust clearance.

• An active Secret clearance is highly preferred.

• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
