This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +6 more states.
• Assign the appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes for various outpatient visit types.
• Review medical records and documentation to accurately code diagnoses and procedures.
• Utilize knowledge of anatomy, physiology, clinical disease processes, pharmacology, and medical terminology to interpret documentation.
• Send queries to physicians for clarification of documentation.
• Adhere to Coding Clinic guidelines for HCPCS, CPT Assistant, coding conventions, and instructional notes.
• Maintain a minimum coding accuracy rate of 95%.
• Achieve minimum standards for coding productivity and quality, targeting 90% productivity and 95% quality.
• Provide technical expertise during system changes and partake in testing for software modifications.
• Identify opportunities for enhancing computer-assisted coding processes.
• Resolve NCCI edits using approved hospital modifiers.
• Utilize 3M Encoder resources to ensure coding accuracy.
• Clearly explain the rationale behind coding selections when required.
• 3-4 years of coding experience in an acute healthcare environment.
• Possession of RHIT, RHIA, or CCS credentials.
• Credentialed by the AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association).
• Completion of 20-30 continuing education credits every two years to maintain credentials.
• Capability to work with minimal supervision.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Preferred: 4 years of coding experience in an acute healthcare setting.
• Must reside in IL, IN, IA, WI, OH, MO, MI, or FL.
