This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
β’ Evaluate medical records, provider documentation, and encounter forms to establish the correct diagnosis and procedure codes.
β’ Accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes.
β’ Ensure compliance with coding standards set by CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payers, and regulatory bodies.
β’ Conduct audits of medical records for completeness, accuracy, and documentation deficiencies.
β’ Liaise with providers to clarify coding issues and enhance documentation.
β’ Identify and address coding-related claim denials and rejections.
β’ Uphold organizational productivity and quality benchmarks.
β’ Remain updated on coding revisions, payer policies, and industry regulations.
β’ Assist in internal coding audits and compliance assessments.
β’ Collaborate with billing, collections, and revenue cycle teams to maximize reimbursement.
β’ Engage in coding and compliance education and training initiatives.
β’ Safeguard patient information confidentiality in line with HIPAA regulations.
β’ High school diploma or its equivalent is mandatory.
β’ A current medical coding certification is required.
β’ A minimum of 1-2 years of coding experience is preferred.
β’ Strong familiarity with ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems is essential.
β’ Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and healthcare reimbursement methods is necessary.
β’ Knowledge of payer guidelines, claims processing, and revenue cycle management is crucial.
β’ Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) and practice management software is required.
β’ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail capabilities are essential.
β’ Must be eligible to work without sponsorship.
β’ Ability to review electronic medical records and coding documentation for extended durations.
β’ Capability to work independently in either an office or remote setting.
β’ Required certifications include CPC, CCS-P, CCS, or CCA.
β’ Completion of an accredited medical coding program is preferred.
β’ An Associate's degree in a related field is preferred.
