Outpatient Clinic Coding Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding across a range of 1–4 specialties

• Execute professional fee, facility, or HCC coding

• Offer coding services to support clients

• Apply ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes with the highest degree of specificity

• Precisely assign ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT®, and HCPCS diagnosis and procedure codes

• Interpret coding guidelines to ensure accurate code assignment

• Recognize the influence of documentation on code assignment and reimbursement

• Adhere to AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding, the Company Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, and the Ethics and Compliance Program

• Follow internal policies and procedures

• Engage in training and education provided by the company

• Maintain at least one credential from AAPC or AHIMA

• Safeguard confidential information and adhere to privacy and security regulations

• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership

⛳️ Requirements

• Certification is required through either AAPC (CPC or COC) or AHIMA (CCS or CCS-P)

• At least 2 years of relevant on-the-job experience

• Consistent, predictable, and punctual attendance is required

• Familiarity and experience with EMR and billing systems

• Access to a phone, reliable internet connection, and current CPT and ICD-10-CM coding references are necessary

• Maintain ongoing productivity and accuracy at 95% or higher

• Achieve a quality score of 95% or higher

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook, including basic spreadsheet formulas, email management, and scheduling meetings

• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in both verbal and written forms

• Capability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines

• Ability to work independently from home in coding skills

• Capacity to work at a computer terminal for 6–8 hours per day

• Occasionally able to lift and move materials weighing up to 20 lbs.
