Oracle DBA/Migration Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and sustain enterprise database environments.

• Install, configure, and enhance database management systems.

• Create SQL reporting queries and scripts to meet application and business requirements.

• Diagnose database issues and deliver prompt resolutions.

• Conduct database performance tuning and optimize SQL statements.

• Review, assess, and implement modifications to database designs.

• Develop and manage procedures, functions, packages, and triggers.

• Oversee data replication and facilitate cutover activities utilizing Oracle ZDM.

• Write migration runbooks and assist with cutover strategizing.

• Collaborate with various teams as a subject matter expert and influence technical decisions.

• Ensure database adherence to organizational policies, standards, and best practices.

• Document workflows, operating procedures, and technical manuals.

• Provide support in regulated environments, including Federal Government or compliance-focused settings.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related Technical discipline, or 10 additional years of relevant work experience in place of a degree.

• At least 6 years of experience working as an Oracle Database Administrator (Oracle 12c, 19c, or later).

• Intermediate level of proficiency in Oracle Database Administration (DBA).

• Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

• Experience in authoring migration runbooks and planning cutover processes.

• Background in cross-platform migrations, cloud database services (OCI, AWS RDS, Azure), or hybrid architectures.

• Ability to effectively communicate intricate technical concepts to stakeholders.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership capabilities.

• Experience with one or more VAEC Operational Tools (VAECOT).

• U.S. Citizenship with a minimum of 3 years of residency in the U.S.

• Authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.

• Current OCI certification or recently passed OCI exam (preferred).

• ITIL certification or knowledge of the ITIL framework (preferred).

• Understanding of security standards and compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, HIPAA, PCI, NIST 800-53, and CIS benchmarks (preferred).

• Prior experience with the Federal Government (preferred).

• Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Microsoft Azure (preferred).

• Experience with DevOps configuration tools such as Ansible, Chef, Docker, Kubernetes, or Puppet (preferred).

• Experience in writing, testing, and maintaining JSON, Python, or HashiCorp Configuration Language code (preferred).
