Ops Coordinator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Indonesia.

📋 Description

• Oversee the daily quality of collected data and report any issues to Field Coordinators.

• Manage and lead Quality Control Officers in Indonesia, reviewing daily QC reports, close-out documentation, and retraining materials.

• Collaborate with Field Coordinators to amend rejected surveys, troubleshoot problems, and monitor completed surveys for inaccurate data or faulty randomization protocols.

• Assist in the finalization and close-out of data, providing contextual insights regarding coffee and cacao regions.

• Oversee the backcheck survey process and manage backcheck personnel.

• Facilitate survey collection efforts in Indonesia alongside the Country Lead and field operations team.

• Aid in the coordination of list-based verification, including Key Sustainability Clusters.

• Test and assist in the design of Data Quality tools and smartphone survey questionnaires.

• Support the customization and review of translations for surveys in Indonesia.

• Work with the Asia Data & Insights team to enhance and develop Data Quality protocols.

• Prepare and distribute regular analyses and statistics concerning data collection progress.

• Contribute to analysis projects and presentations for stakeholders utilizing coffee and cacao verification data.

• Highlight trends and insights that support data-driven sourcing decisions.

• Assist the Country Lead in nurturing relationships with Indonesian coffee and cacao stakeholders and track follow-up actions.

• Establish connections with local partners and enhance regional partnerships.

• Clearly and accurately communicate key findings in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.

• Develop expertise in sustainability issues related to Indonesian coffee and cacao.

• Aid in the onboarding and training of Field Coordinators and enumerators; lead Data Quality sessions.

• Train field operations teams on new survey and data quality tools.

• Assist in adapting training materials for various Asian origins and languages.

• Collaborate on initiatives with program and field operations managers, data scientists, product managers, engineers, agronomists, and industry specialists.

• Support ad hoc special projects and other assigned tasks, including those outside of Indonesia.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in data management and collaboration across teams.

• Currently based in Indonesia.

• 1–2 years of experience in managing and conducting both quantitative and qualitative research, with a strong emphasis on data quality management.

• Bachelor’s degree with an excellent academic record in development studies, economics, business, statistics, plant science, forestry, or related fields, accompanied by relevant professional experience.

• Strong computer skills, particularly proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Docs applications.

• Familiarity with quantitative data collection software and platforms.

• Knowledge of Python or other programming languages is a plus, but not mandatory.

• Excellent verbal and written skills in Bahasa Indonesia.

• Strong working proficiency in English.

• Comfortable collaborating with a global team across different time zones.

• Familiarity with smallholder agriculture and rural field research in Asia, especially in Indonesia, is advantageous.

• Experience with contracts or vendor management is beneficial but not essential.

• Willingness to travel to coffee- and cacao-producing regions in Indonesia and occasionally to other countries.

• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multicultural team environment.

• Ability to comprehend data, derive insights, identify inaccurate data, and propose areas for improvement.
