Operations Manager – Commercial Nuclear Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Provide services to both legacy and new nuclear clients by designing, constructing, upgrading, operating, and maintaining assets related to nuclear power generation and the fuel cycle.

• Supervise and manage work activities that aid in the design, engineering, and licensing of nuclear projects focusing on operations, maintenance, operator training, and security.

• Lead the operations engineering team, providing insights on operability to inform design configurations.

• Enhance functionality, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to U.S. nuclear industry best practices.

• Direct research efforts and tackle complex technical challenges that have wide-ranging impacts.

• Make autonomous decisions and address significant inquiries as a recognized technical authority.

• Oversee and manage the technical contributions of senior professionals.

• Collaborate with senior technical managers and various levels of management.

• Offer technical guidance and set technical standards for projects.

• Represent and advocate for the company's technical work to clients and regulatory bodies.

• Engage in technical quality assurance reviews and support project evaluations and audits.

• Coordinate staffing requirements and assist in recruitment and orientation for technical roles.

• Lead high-risk, intricate initiatives while developing execution strategies.

• Address unique and complex operational challenges that impact the broader business.

• Influence the direction and resource allocation for projects, initiatives, or services.

• Convey complex concepts effectively and persuade senior stakeholders to consider alternative perspectives.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering.

• Requires 15 years of experience; the typical candidate possesses 20–25 years of experience.

• Excellent communication skills in a demanding, multi-tiered environment.

• Strong organizational capabilities.

• Ability to cultivate and achieve alignment on goals among participants with varying interests.

• Expert understanding of the operations and maintenance of commercial nuclear facilities.

• Comprehensive knowledge of RadCon requirements and practices applicable to nuclear facilities.

• In-depth understanding of material control and accountability measures for nuclear facilities.

• Knowledge and experience in developing training programs for operations and maintenance tasks within an NRC-regulated setting.

• Must be a U.S. citizen.

• Prior SRO or RO license at a commercial nuclear facility is preferred.
