Operations Lead – Logistics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sri Lanka.

📋 Description

• Take charge of daily logistics and distribution operations.

• Oversee the movement of products from production partners to fulfillment and final delivery.

• Ensure deliveries are accurate and on schedule.

• Track routes, orders, delivery performance, and exceptions.

• Address delivery failures and operational bottlenecks.

• Collaborate with carriers, vendors, production partners, fulfillment partners, and 3PLs.

• Design and enhance delivery routes, considering factors like density, delivery windows, mileage, capacity, and costs.

• Predict route and fulfillment capacity needs and pinpoint constraints.

• Align demand with production availability.

• Assist in cold-chain execution and the timely movement of perishable goods.

• Manage relationships with vendors, carriers, farms, production partners, fulfillment partners, and 3PLs.

• Evaluate partner performance and proactively follow up on delayed information or execution.

• Monitor logistics metrics such as on-time delivery, delivery and route costs, route utilization, delivery density, failed deliveries, capacity utilization, exceptions, partner performance, and customer volume.

• Transform operational data into actionable recommendations and decisions.

• Create workflows and develop SOPs, escalation paths, handoff documentation, and repeatable operating systems.

• Aid in scaling the operational model into new markets, regions, and higher volumes.

• Serve as an operational connector with both internal and external stakeholders.

• See issues through to resolution.

• Collaborate under the guidance and support of the Operations Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in managing logistics, supply chain, distribution, or last-mile operations.

• Significant hands-on experience across logistics, supply chain, distribution, last-mile delivery, transportation operations, fulfillment, or route operations.

• Experience in owning operational processes and performance metrics.

• Capability to design processes in environments where they may be incomplete or lacking.

• Strong analytical skills with spreadsheets, operational datasets, logistics KPIs, capacity, demand, and route economics.

• Background in route planning, last-mile operations, distribution, transportation, or logistics optimization.

• Ability to identify bottlenecks, investigate root causes, develop solutions, and implement resolutions.

• Experience managing vendors, carriers, production partners, fulfillment partners, or 3PLs directly.

• Proven track record in creating SOPs, operational processes, and repeatable systems.

• Ability to work independently and make decisions in fast-paced and ambiguous environments.

• Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and capability to manage multiple operational priorities.

• Experience with food, beverage, grocery, dairy, or other perishable products is highly desirable.

• Willingness to work a split shift with some overlap with the client’s time zone.

• Commitment to attending in-person training for the first 3.5 weeks.
