This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Design, implement, maintain, and optimize OpenSearch environments.
• Collaborate with a global team of administrators to design, automate, build, operate, and continuously improve indexing services that support customer-facing SaaS products.
• Monitor the health, performance, and resource utilization of clusters.
• Implement security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and encryption.
• Develop backup and recovery strategies for OpenSearch clusters.
• Troubleshoot and resolve intricate OpenSearch issues.
• Execute cluster upgrades and patches with minimal downtime.
• Optimize query performance and data indexing strategies.
• Work with development teams to implement effective search solutions.
• Create and maintain documentation related to OpenSearch configurations and procedures.
• Implement solutions for high availability and disaster recovery.
• Serve as a backup for other team members when required.
• Provide on-call support and be available outside regular hours as needed to ensure reliability and availability.
• Participate in bi-weekly rotating shifts to guarantee weekend coverage.
• Over 3 years of hands-on experience in administering OpenSearch clusters.
• Strong comprehension of OpenSearch architecture and core principles.
• Experience with OpenSearch Dashboards, Logstash-compatible pipelines, and OpenSearch Data Prepper.
• Proficient in Linux/Unix operating systems and shell scripting.
• Knowledgeable in JVM tuning and garbage collection optimization.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools for OpenSearch, such as OpenSearch Dashboards, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment while managing projects with strict deadlines.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including developers, system reliability engineers, and other business units.
• Capability to diagnose and troubleshoot user-facing service incidents and outages.
• OpenSearch certification, experience with cloud-based OpenSearch deployments, additional monitoring tools, large-scale search performance tuning, and automation or CI/CD tools are considered advantageous.
