Online Visiting Professor, Inpatient Coding

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Instruct undergraduate and graduate courses as an online visiting professor.

• Support student learning in alignment with DeVry University standards.

• Create course syllabi and lesson plans.

• Utilize teaching methods to fulfill course and program objectives.

• Organize, prepare, update, and revise course materials.

• Employ online technologies and course-related software, including websites, email, and online discussions.

• Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.

• Establish course expectations, objectives, assignment and exam schedules, as well as evaluation criteria.

• Ensure that exams are consistent with course objectives.

• Prepare and fairly grade exams.

• Provide prompt feedback to students.

• Integrate AI technologies responsibly in teaching and learning.

• Identify, assess, and manage appropriate and inappropriate student use of AI tools.

• Fulfill additional assigned responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• A master’s degree in a healthcare-related field is mandatory.

• 18 graduate credit hours in the subject area being taught.

• Unofficial graduate-level transcripts must be submitted with the application.

• Degree must be granted by an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, or by an equivalent internationally accredited institution.

• Experience in inpatient coding.

• Current experience in the healthcare industry.

• Valid industry-related certification (CCS).

• At least 5 years of recent inpatient coding experience in the field.

• Minimum of 5 years of practical knowledge of healthcare operations.

• Familiarity with electronic health/medical records.

• Understanding of IT systems and their functions within healthcare.

• Knowledge of health insurance and reimbursement practices.

• Awareness of health privacy and ethics.

• Insight into reimbursement methodologies and billing functions.

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings.

• Required subject matter expertise and excellent communication skills.

• Dedication to continuous professional development in instructional technology, digital literacy, and responsible AI practices.
