This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Engage with individuals through online chats and texts from 988/The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
• Deliver non-judgmental crisis assistance utilizing crisis intervention models and techniques for suicide prevention.
• Respond to incoming communications by providing crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and supportive counseling.
• Carry out safety evaluations in accordance with agency policies, funding requirements, accreditation standards, and Lifeline Best Practices.
• Oversee client interactions to guarantee effective and suitable support.
• Implement police intervention protocols when a visitor is in immediate danger.
• Comply with state and federal legal obligations, including HIPAA confidentiality and mandatory reporting.
• Work collaboratively with the online crisis counselor team and Shift Leads on intricate cases.
• Consult with Shift Leads and Master’s level Crisis Shift Managers regarding compliance matters.
• Utilize Microsoft Teams to engage with remote staff and 988 Crisis Shift Leads.
• Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to improve clinical skills and foster professional growth.
• Provide mentorship and coaching to new team members.
• Execute additional responsibilities as directed by the Program Coordinator.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in social science, behavioral health, or a related discipline.
• At least one (1) year of experience in mental health or a related field.
• Registration as an Agency Affiliated Counselor required within 30 days of hiring, or equivalent, and must remain active throughout employment.
• Successful completion of a typing test with a minimum score of 35 WPM.
• Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
• Possess a courteous, empathetic, and professional demeanor.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Motivational Interviewing and active listening techniques.
• Strong skills in problem-solving and information gathering.
• Exceptional communication abilities to convey information clearly and effectively.
• Capability to multitask, including simultaneous talking and typing.
• Competence in documenting notes within electronic medical records.
• A minimum internet download speed of 100 Mbps and upload speed of 10 Mbps is required.
• Submission of a recent internet speed test result is mandatory.
• A secured wired internet connection using an ethernet cable is necessary; WiFi is not permitted.
• Satellite internet services such as HughesNet, Starlink, or Viasat are not supported.
• Up to 200 hours of vacation time.
